Michelle has over twenty years experience working as a senior manager, consultant and trainer with a wide variety of organisations in both the private and public sectors, including Westpac Banking Corporation, Unilever, Department of Industrial Relations and IBM Consulting Group. She has considerable consulting experience in organisational analysis and design, human resource management, management and leadership development and training.
Over the last few years, her work has focused primarily on change management engagements embracing mergers and alliances, major IT platforms, market re-positioning and organisational restructuring. Specific activities have included change impact and readiness assessment, job redesign and behavioural impacts, cultural and behavioural diagnostics, human resource system audits and reviews along with associated communications and training work. Her focus has always been on the impact of change on people.
Michelle is a qualified psychologist with experience in both in counselling and coaching work. Her coaching and counselling work has focussed on outplacement/work transition, performance coaching, role transition and career development.
Michelle has experience across a number of industries including consumer goods manufacture and distribution, retail, marketing and service including legal, banking, finance and insurance, information technology, construction, and health and welfare. She has worked at all levels within organisations from the support, production and shop floor areas to middle, senior and executive level management.
Michelle has worked on a diverse range of consulting assignments including:
- Development and implementation of a competency based senior management development and leadership program for a major pharmaceutical company;
- Development of a core management competency model and succession planning system for Qantas Information Technology;
- Development and implementation of performance management systems for a number of organisations in the IT, property development, legal, branding and design sectors;
- Review and audit of HR functions in a number of sectors including local government, health and manufacturing;
- Development and implementation of a cross-cultural communications training program for a telecommunications company's Japanese operation;
- Development of an Asia Pacific regional communications strategy, process and documentation for a major FMCG organisation;
- Development and implementation of organisational climate surveys in the financial services, telecommunications and gaming sectors.
In addition, Michelle has extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region having worked on engagements in China, Japan and Taiwan. While in China she worked as a Senior Lecturer for Monash Mt. Eliza Business School, teaching human resource management. During this time, she also participated as a member of a Feasibility Study Team funded by AusAid to examine and make recommendations concerning cooperative management education programs to be funded by the Australian and Chinese Governments for Chinese managers in high growth industries.
